Imagine finding the perfect piece of land in the most ideal location, BUT the house it comes with is totally dated? For some this would be far too overwhelming to purchase but for others this sounds like an epic opportunity!
Luckily our clients fell on the “epic opportunity side” and called us in to do the design and construction. With a little bit of faith and a whole lot of patience to live in their camper for the summer, we were able to totally transform the interior and exterior of their home.
The kitchen was the biggest portion of the main floor transformation. The original kitchen was small and dated. The house had two living rooms so we stole one of them to allow for us to nearly double their kitchen size. A big island for entertaining was a must and I love the way it turned out with the additional seating on the side! The coffee bar was added to a blank wall to create more storage and less clutter on the kitchen counters. You’re going to want to grab those bar stools for your house too – they’re the best and linked here.
We used a MDF cabinet, spray finished in Chantilly Lace (Benjamin Moore) and accented it with a maple stained island. The hood fan box has a beautiful shiplap detail and the backsplash keeps the space grounded. What I love about this tile is that it’s subtle but has some variation to it – creating a ton of visual interest! I’ve linked the tile here but you can also see it in person at Flooring Superstores in Saskatoon. The large plank laminate flooring is another must-link because it is absolutely stunning! It’s light, bright, and the larger planks make for such a designer like look!
This wallpaper was a great addition to a kids room and linked here.
Two of my favorite kitchen additions were both the larger window and the extra storage located on the backside of the island. Most people don’t even realize that much of the back side gets wasted away on an island. For those needing additional storage this is a great spot! Our clients plan to use some of this space for kids craft supplies as this will likely be the spot they sit to craft…what a cool idea!
Leaving you with one last before photo. A special thank you to our clients for trusting us with their house transformation. These jobs are always fun to see from start to finish.
