Nothing beats a house with great curb appeal! Changing out the color on your front door is one of the easiest and CHEAPEST things you can do to add a pop of design to your exterior. Whether you’re more of a neutral person or someone who doesn’t mind going BOLD, a quick color swap can make all the difference…
Over the past couple of years, I’ve done red, blue, yellow, stained wood and plain white front doors on our projects…Personally, I’m a COLOR gal. Pulling up to a home with a colored door somehow just puts a smile on my face…It makes the house feel more welcoming, and that’s what I’ve always desired for my own home to feel like to others – an inviting place that people want to come-in and stay 🙂
Below are some of my favorite “tried and true” colors we’ve used in our own projects and a sneak peak of the front door color for our Ice Princess project getting completed next month!
1. Citrine AF-370 (Benjamin Moore)
We used this rich yellow on one of our new builds and it was the perfect complement to the navy blue siding! It was bold, but not obnoxious – which is something you really have to be careful of when choosing a yellow tone.
2. Rosetone 1186 (Benjamin Moore)
Although we only used this on the inside of the front door to compliment the living room, if I could go back in time I would have used it on the exterior of the home as well. This pretty pink is so calming and suited the “seaside” theme of the house beautifully.
3. Naval 6244 (Sherwin Williams / HGTV line)
The medium blue tone of Naval was the perfect pop of color that the neutral siding was screaming for. Because we went with a grey siding we really wanted to give the home some character so that it didn’t blend in with the street. We carried the Naval color on the front door throughout the interior of the home with curtains, décor accents and a kitchen backsplash. The blue was a hit and we will most likely be using it again!
4. ICE PRINCESS SNEAK PEAK – Sage Wisdom CSP-775 (Benjamin Moore)
The exterior of the home is blue with some stone accents – It already has a nice look, but lacks some personality in my opinion 😉 In the kitchen we did a soft green / blue island and I really fell in love with the color during construction. We will be bringing the same color from the island onto the front door and patio doors on the top suite. It’s subtle, yet bold enough to make a statement and spruce up the curb appeal!
**Make sure to mark your calendars for July 26th – We will be having a Reveal Party at our Ice Princess project and you won’t want to miss this one…More details to follow next week!
