Our Spring Home Tour

Our Spring Home Tour

Spring is FINALLY in the air! I feel like this winter has seriously dragged on forever, but I’m sensing a light at the end of the tunnel.  With this “warmer” weather brings the itch for me to get our house “spruced up” – That means packing up the dark winter pillows, curtains and rugs and bringing out our lighter and more summer looking items! It’s an easy swap and one that truly makes me happy this time of year.

Here’s a look at what I did to get our house ready for spring this year!

#1.  First and foremost, I spring purge.  That means going through the closets, cabinets and storage area and throwing away / donating everything I haven’t used in the last 12 months.  I HATE clutter and one thing that I have done to bring sanity into our lives is not allow it to take over our home.  Brad and I have always been a more minimalist type couple and this is by choice – true story…up until this Christmas we only had one pot and one pan for cooking.  We survived three years like this and never thought twice about it haha.

#2.  Pillow cover swap!  Something I do to save money and storage space is only use pillow covers.  This allows me to buy pillows cheaper and gives me the ability to swap them out with the change of seasons – the pillow covers I use range anywhere from $4 – $15 and I stuff them with pillow stuffing purchased at Fabricland.  Another perk to using pillow covers is that they’re super easy to store and machine wash – literally it’s a piece of fabric folded up that you can stick anywhere and they take up literally no room…Huge plus if you’re a clutter hater like me!

#3.  Think about adding a pop of color.  Lately, I had been looking at our window wall in the dining room and feeling like it was too blah.  I recently used the color, Anchors Aweigh in our new build, The Burke and totally fell in love with it.  I decided it would add the perfect pop of pizzazz in my own dining room and went for it.  Painting that wall cost me $40 and I love the added personality that it gave the room.  The best part…if I get tired of the color in a few years – it’s a simple swap of paint and done!

#4.   Head to my favorites – Home Sense, Michaels and Pier One!  They have some great spring decor out right now at affordable prices!  Here are my sources to some items you will see photographed throughout the blog…
