The Tobin Reveal

The Tobin Reveal

No matter what your budget is, there will always be give and take with any home that you buy. Lots of people build new to try and get everything they want, while others buy an existing home and put their own touch on it.

Our Tobin Renovation was a fresh start for our client’s as they moved back into Saskatoon to be closer to work, family, and kids activities. The house that they ended up purchasing was located in Lawson Heights and sat on a big lot surrounded by mature trees – the perfect compromise for a family accustomed to living in quiet / small town Saskatchewan.

Although the landscape and location were perfect, there were some much needed upgrades to be done inside of the house before they were ready to call it, “home.” Some important must-haves for the family were: A functional kitchen with ample storage, an open concept living and kitchen area, and a more modern look that fit their style. We got right to work on “Design Day” and had all the fun elements for the house picked and ready to go… I loved that our client’s weren’t afraid of color and texture – which in-turn allowed their design to be unique!

Our mission for the design and layout of this kitchen was to utilize every inch of wall space and add useful storage wherever possible! We went with a built-in bench seat for the dining room and added pull outs and built in’s beside and below it. This was a creative way to capture back the space they were missing from a traditional pantry.

We HAD to make this area open concept and there was only one way to accomplish that – take a wall down! The outdated brick fireplace was an eye sore so we went with a white wash effect on it – taking it right out of the 70’s! Other item’s updated were railing, flooring, and paint 🙂
