The Willoughby Reveal

It’s hard to believe this project is already complete! It seems like just yesterday we were walking through this house with the whole crew going over what changes were about to take place, and now we’re sharing all of the before and after details with you! The house had some “dated” updates already made to it, but it just didn’t fit the design style that our clients wanted in their forever home. We’re so proud of the transformation on this one…read below to get all the nitty gritty details 🙂

The original kitchen started out tiny and closed off to the rest of the living space. When you were cooking, you felt isolated from everything else going on in the house. To create an open concept feel we took down the dividing walls and added a massive island to provide more countertop prep space and additional seating! We’re proud to work with Superior Cabinets on all of our kitchen projects, and they exceeded our expectations as usual on this one. We went with Prosecco White (our favorite “white” color they offer) and accented it with a laminated wood to add some texture.  None of the existing windows moved locations so we had to get creative on how we built the cabinets around them. We also tiled all the way to the ceiling to create the illusion of an even bigger space!

You’ll notice in many of the photos that we changed up the railing to something pretty unique! Horizontal bars and a stained black rail really gave the railing a more modern look. The flooring you’ll see throughout is what we call a differing width laminate plank – meaning that there are various sizes of widths in the laminate boards giving the illusion of a more real wood look. We’ve used this specific laminate in a few projects now and have always loved it!

You’ll see lots of custom wood details throughout the house! We incorporated hickory wood and gave it a natural stain to warm up the large spaces. Our favorite spot the wood was used was in the twins bathroom. This space was inspired by a Pinterest photo our client saw, and we’re so pleased to be able to replicate it in our own unique way! Sharing a few before and after photos of the bathroom Renos below!

Last but not least…we wanted to share some of our other favorite spots in the house which include the bedrooms and mudroom transformation. These spaces stayed their original sizes for the most part, but got some major design changes made to them. Sometimes it’s not necessary to change up the foot print of a room, but yet give it a more functional design.

Jeff, Lindsay, Rowan, Isla, and future Tysdal baby – Thank you for allowing us to transform this home for you. Getting to know you guys was SUCH a pleasure. Unfortunately for you – there’s no escaping us since we go to the same church LOL <3 Wishing you nothing but happiness in this new home and next chapter of your lives!
